About Refugee Community Kitchen
Refugee Community Kitchen provides healthy food to communities in Northern France and on the streets of the UK. In France we work across different sites in Calais and Grand Synthe, distributing by van with a team of around 5 volunteers led by long term volunteers. Our food services are approximately 2 hours long & our aim is to create a dignified service offering a variety of nutritious culturally familiar food, tea, water & condiments to people in need.
Role: Kitchen Coordinator
Start date: June 2024
Based in: Calais, France
Contract type: Full-time position - 5 days per week. Six months minimum commitment.
Job Description: The essence of the role is to oversee, delegate & communicate. To keep the remit and core values alive in all aspects of the project. To continue to provide healthy nutritious food to people who need it as well as supporting the volunteers to be safe, happy and healthy.
Requirement & Commitment:
Essential
Minimum 6 months commitment (5 volunteering days and 2 days off each week).
Has minimum 6 months experience working in the field or 3 months working with RCK
Desirable
Previous cooking experience
Knowledge & passion for world food
Good use of French language
Driver’s license
Ability to travel to France (Schengen area) as required
Responsibilities:
Food ordering
Stock takes
Menu planning
Fridge Rotation
Equipment maintenance
Overseeing kitchen documentation
Recipes skill shares & volunteer training
Coordinating morning meetings
Coordinating incoming chefs
Daily food output
Support package includes:

Rent-free accommodation- private room in shared house
Meals provided
Transport to and from work
Volunteer visa application guidance
