About Refugee Community Kitchen
Refugee Community Kitchen provides healthy food to communities in Northern France and on the streets of the UK. In France we work across different sites in Calais and Grand Synthe, distributing by van with a team of around 5 volunteers led by long term volunteers. Our food services are approximately 2. hours long. Our aim is to create a dignified service offering a variety of nutritious culturally familiar food, tea, water & condiments to people in need.
Role: Project Manager
Start date: June 2024
Location: Calais
Contract type: Full time position - 5 days per week. Minimum commitment of 6 months, ideally 1 year.
Job Description:
The essence of the role is to oversee, delegate & communicate. To keep Refugee Community Kitchen’s remit and core values alive in all aspects of the project and to continue to provide healthy nutritious food to people who need it as well as supporting the volunteers to be safe, happy and healthy.
Requirement & Commitment:
Essential
Minimum 6 months commitment (5 volunteering days and 2 days off each week)
6 months experience long term volunteering with Refugee Community Kitchen or 1 year of experience working in a refugee aid grassroots charity or humanitarian NGO.
Desirable
Drivers licence
Good use of French language
Knowledge & passion for world food
Experience working with grassroots charities or NGOs, experience in project management and leading volunteer teams.
Experience in hospitality, project management and leading volunteer teams
Ability to travel to France (Schengen area) as required.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing and managing all aspects of the day to day running of the RCK kitchen and project in Calais
Overseeing the Coordination Team tasks
Managing financial aspects of the Calais project - collating: receipts/ordering/donations
Welcome team emails & volunteer check-ins
Coordinating and facilitating volunteer inductions and trainings
Overseeing the weekly rota
Liaising with London management team, founders and the board of trustees
Coordinating and communicating with other organisations on the ground in Northern France
